Creative Alchemy

“The essential secret of the art lies hidden in the unconscious.”

“The method of alchemy is one of boundless amplification.”

                                                                                               Carl Jung

We come to the creative process each with our own set of needs, desires, expectations and trepidations.

We bring ourselves as we are – with our talents and shortcomings, artistic skills and esthetic preferences, amazing visions and flights of fancy.

We may be moved to act by a perceptual impression or an intellectual idea, a bodily sensation or an emotional response, a sense of recognition or a flash of insight.

We may be empty or inspired, bored or burdened, tense or relaxed, happy or sad as we contemplate the blank canvas, as we venture into the imaginary spaces of our own psyche.

The art stores are stocked with endless choices and variations of art supplies to use.

The elements of visual vocabulary provide an infinite array of possibilities.

Art history gives us a full range of stylistic diversity with an unlimited number of examples of individual artistic brilliance to be inspired by.

What will you do? Which path will you choose?

What navigational tools will you use to guide you in your process?

Consider the following questions:

  • How does your self-awareness manifest through your self-expression?
  • What type of relationship do you foster and nourish with the emerging artwork?
  • What is the relationship between your process and your practice?
  • What is required to bring the work to completion?
  • What golden gifts of insight and healing will you collect along the way?

We invite you to explore these questions and search for your own answers together with other like-minded individuals in a study group format of Creative Alchemy.

The goal of this program is to:

  • offer individual support and guidance to every participant,
  • stimulate inquiry and growth,
  • create momentum,
  • develop relevant personal processes,
  • create and maintain a meaningful artistic practice.

Like alchemists of old we will pursue our fleeting goal with an open mind, firm conviction and childlike playfulness in our quest for union of mind and matter, body and soul, inner awareness and artistic expression.

Creative Alchemy is a 1-year course comprising 30 3-hour zoom sessions and 4 one-day in-person workshops.

The course will conclude with a Creative Alchemy Group Art Exhibit showcasing the work that has been done during the year on June 11, 2023.

Our Zoom sessions will consist of a brief introductory lecture followed by individual artistic exploration with ongoing facilitation and feedback, troubleshooting and problem solving.

Each in-person workshop will focus on a particular theme and will include clinics, exercises, demonstrations and group feedback sessions.

You are strongly encouraged to participate in both online and offline parts of the course in full, but we do understand that some of you may not be able to attend some or all of the in-person workshops. Because of that workshops are being offered administratively as a separate unit.
